We are a small shop that specializes in VW's. Old or new, Beetles or Busses and anything in between! We are just off Interstate 90, so stop in on your way through! We are not far from the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Just read a thread on another web site stating how this business and it's owner went out of their way to help a college student without too much money get his 914 on the road. They went out of their way to provide a full day service of time and equipment to assist someone who was trapped and needed a helping hand.

He would not charge the student because of the circumstances, distance he had to go, etc. In fact, the owner had lost his son a few days before and was now helping someone in need.

These actions in providing assistance, the circumstances surrounding the events, and doing the work via assistance and equipment without charge goes along way in my book.

I think we need more people like the business owner. He should receive some award and recognition for his actions which were above and beyond the call of duty. I definitely would use this business if I was within two hundred and fifty miles. I would travel to him to give him business. He deserves proper recognition and I hope people in the area support him in his business activities.

My rare 1973 Porsche 914 had broken down in the middle of nowhere and my AAA free 200 mile tow wasn't able to get me all the way to Sioux Falls. There actually ended up being a small VW shop here in Mitchell, SD called Import Motors.

The proprietor's name is Jonathan and was one of the most helpful men I have ever met. Today was his first day back at the shop in about a week so he was WAY behind, but he brought me right in, set me up on one of his lifts and got to work. He gave me first priority over some of the other vehicles in his shop and even was able to source the parts that I needed. when a specific tool was required for the job he ordered it and had it brought in by a courier to speed the process up. I dont believe I would have gotten service like this anywhere else.

I can guarantee that if my car ever breaks down again within 200 miles of his shop, thats where I will be taking it. This absolute gentleman gave me all the assistance I required and was VERY reasonable about the cost.

I was driving down the highway when my Jetta started overheating and me being a young woman all alone with no mechnical experience just happend to break down in the near the town of Mitchell. I had asked around town where I could take my car to have it looked at and they told me about this shop that specializes in VW's, so I brought my car there told the man who owned the shop that I was traveling alone and what my problem was as I was about to break into tear because I had only so much money and I was travel across states. The man was so polite and stopped everything I was doing to work on my car, he didn't have the part I needed but he did fix the problem long enough for me to limp my car to where I was going and buy a part and install it, he even showed me how to install the part myself, and then out of the kindness of his heart charged me nothing. I enjoyed watching him work on my car because he has such a passion for working on VW's that I have never seen any mechanic have before and he definately loves his job. So if I was you and own a VW the only place in that area I would take my car to is this auto shop, I only wished he was closer because he would be my one and only mechanic because I love my car that much.
