I had driven my bug almost all summer without air conditioning. Upon reading the two above reviews for Shanks Imports Repair, I entrusted my car with Mr. Shanks. He did a marvelous job. This was a pull out the dash job, a very complicated and tedious endeavor. My car is almost perfect now. He is pleasant, courteous and careful not to install parts that you don't need. He has earned this review simply by caring for his customers!
I was looking for a VW mechanic in my area as the dealership becomes prohibitively expensive as a car ages...and I recently hit 110K on mine. Also, the AC went out during the hottest week of the summer.
I called, dropped my car off, and picked it up 3 days later in nearly perfect condition. It hasn't run this well since the day I bought it. Most importantly the AC works.
I wasn't the only car in line either, so it's obvious this man stays very busy working on VWs and other imports.
Three hours from home our Passat started jerking on acceleration. Stressed at the thought of a serious transmission issue we searched for creditable volkswagon auto shop. I read a review for Shanks & prayed he could fit us in and not charge us for something we didn't need. We were right. Orlando was fantastic. He was honest, quick, kind & went out of his way to help. He quickly fixed the car, wasn't transmission just coils, then showed us a great place nearby to eat before we finished our long trip home. I highly recommend him.
