Bob got my car in the very next morning, diagnosed the problem and informed me of what was going on. He promptly took care of a small issue I had and told me I could wait on my other repairs until inspection time after the holidays, so I will definitely be returning in the near future to square away the rest of the problems with the car. We just picked up our van from Bob Mann Auto. His work and resulting discussions are tremendous. The van is a 1.9 Liter turbo diesel. After 170,000 miles and in the middle of a trans North American drive from Salt Spring Island B C, Canada and return an oil leak and coolant leak had developed on the bottom of the engine. Bob jumped in and fixed those and a few other minor things and then discussed how to keep this engine purring for a long time with a few simple corrections. Our family migrated to VW Jettas (a 2010 TDi & an '02 TDi) from having owned big ammerican cars (Crown Vics for last 14 yrs). Found Bob Mann's shop thru the TDiClub after combing thru the forums while being very picky. Cant's say enough good things. We have started using Bob a couple months ago and expect to maintain a good long running relationship. His work is excellent, Rates are reasonable and well below any "stealership's" "stealer svc" dept. NO reason to even consider such after having Bob do the work. Bob brought the Jettas up to par, we bought both as used cars from CL and due to his work we expect to have these cars for many many years and have him do our work on them to keep our family "mobilized"..
We purchased an '02 VW Passat for our teenaged daughter from an independent dealer at what we thought was a great deal, only to learn there were several mechanical issues that needed attention. We had never owned a VW before, so we were unaware of how pricey repairs can be, especially at a VW dealership. We initially had some repairs done by our usual local mechanic, but he was extremely pricey and did not know enough about VWs to comfortably perform further work for us. His extensive knowledge of these vehicles is amazing. We've brought our vehicle to him several times over the past 6 months for mechanical issues, as well as for things like replacing a faulty headlamp unit and broken glove box, reprogramming key remotes and cleaning out moon roof drainage tubes when water was detected on the floor of the vehicle. Bob pretty much knew immediately what problem we were experiencing just be calling and describing it to him over the phone!
